USDA Weekly Crop Progress

November 14, 2011

November 14, 2011 OMAHA (DTN) -- Mostly favorable weather allowed corn and soybean producers to maintain a faster-than-average pace this past week, according to USDA's weekly Crop Progress report. Corn harvest progress came in at 93% completed as of Sunday, Nov. 13. "This is 11 percentage points ahead of the five-year average and could be viewed as bearish," said DTN Senior Analyst Darin Newsom. Soybean harvest progress came in at 96% completed. "This is 2 percentage points ahead of the five-year average and could be viewed as slightly bearish," Newsom said. Meanwhile, winter wheat planting progress was pegged at 96% completed as of Sunday. This is 1 percentage points head of the five-year average. Emergence was reported at 83%, 1 percentage point behind average. "The combination of these two could be seen as neutral," Newsom said. "Using the DTN Crop Condition Index, winter wheat conditions improved to 124 points from last week's 120 points. This should be viewed as bearish. Good-to-excellent ratings were slightly bearish, increasing from 49% to 50%." National Crop Progress Summary
